FULL-TIME HEAD OFFICE JOBS...

Resourcing Manager

We have an ideal opportunity for anyone looking to develop their career within recruitment or gain experience within a busy and dynamic events company. We are looking for a Resourcing Manager to oversee the full life cycle of recruitment and placement of freelance staff onto a wide range of mass participation events and international challenges.  You will be play a strategic and operational role in driving forward an ambitious agenda to widen our pool of talent and key staff, interview and meet potential new staff members, develop and train staff onto our challenge events.

We are a growing business who now have over 400 members of part-time staff we work with – and you will need to be passionate and engaged with our business to ensure that we are placing the best staff onto our challenges and offering those staff the right support and development to deliver their role. You will need to be a strong communicator, with great people skills to be able to build rapport quickly and develop relationships with an authority to make key decisions and be trusted to take ownership of a process.

This role is new to the business and with it we are looking for someone who is armed with energy, brimming with ideas and ambitious in their desire to deliver excellence.  

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Consulting across the business to understand our current capability gaps and future skill needs
  • Building on our existing staff management framework to identify and assess gaps in skill sets and areas for development and training
  • Working in tight partnership with Project Managers and Business Leaders to ensure that the staffing requirement is being fulfilled across the business
  • Planning often 12 months in advance to secure the top talent and key staff for our event calendar – maintaining regular contact and following a full communications plan and timeline
  • Work alongside Directors to build and create a staff ‘vision’ of brand, excellence, training schemes and development of the business being the ‘best’ employer within the sector
  • First point of contact for staff enquiries & incoming emails, telephone calls and questions
  • Fulfilling our on-event staffing plans with staffing allocation
  • Processing of staff invoices, and record keeping of finances
  • Updating and maintaining accurate records of staff on our CRM system
  • Organising the Payroll process for our freelance staff
  • Create initiates and a structured framework to drive forward recruitment
  • Build relationships with a wide range of freelance staff (Event Managers, Doctors, Mountain Leaders)

Skills & desired experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years recent experience in providing administrative & customer service support
  • Knowledge of and experience the ‘challenge events’ industry – ideally within a similar role/position
  • Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills and high levels of Customer Service
  • Flexible with working hours whenever required - and weekend event work
  • Work well under pressure in a very fast paced environment

Client Account Manager

We have an ideal opportunity for someone with a rounded skillset, who has a passion for building relationships, can quickly develop rapport with a wide client base and excels at delivering excellent customer service. We are looking for a Client Account Manager to oversee and manage our key Charity Accounts from some of the UK's biggest and best known charities, whilst also developping relationships with smaller and newer charities. You will play a strategic and operational role in securing key relationships, managing existing relationships and communicating on a regular basis to deliver a fantastic customer experience. 

This will be a new role, within our growing business and we raise in excess of £10 million a year for UK charities, our events are some of the UK's biggest fundraising challenges and very well loved and respected within the charity sector. The ideal candidate will have prior experience within a customer service/ account management role, with excellent organisational and communication skills - ideally with knowledge and experience of the charity and events sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Account managing charity clients and ensuring a high level of client care
  • Responsibility for marketing, promotion and generating target numbers onto events
  • Communications – regular communications to clients
  • Drafting, creating and completing proposals and sales documents within a set timeframe
  • Build new relationships and identify potential opportunity for growth and development 

Who we are looking for...

You will be an ambitious individual with the desire to work in a dynamic, small team – with a flexible approach to work and with a rounded, generalist skill-set. You will ideally have previous experience of having worked within a sales, marketing or commercial environment with the ambition to grow and achieve both targeted results as well as delivering professional events. The nature of the industry is that you will be expected to work weekends on events and to enjoy and relish the opportunity this offers. 

  • Degree level education
  • Experience of drafting, editing and writing communications
  • Enthusiastic, passionate and excited to work within a dynamic and varied workplace
  • Strong I.T. skills
  • Strong written and communication skills – a written test will be part of the process

The Role

Event Management Intern

THE ROLE:

Excellent opportunity for an outstanding candidate to join an exciting and dynamic mass participation events agency for a 2 month term. Start date flexible - primarily based in our LONDON HEAD OFFICE.

You will be an integral member of the team, assisting and supporting the event tams with the delivery of a portfolio of events spanning a variety of disciplines including trekking, running and cycling.

A varied and flexible role, your day to day duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Helping to deliver world class charity challenge events
  • Providing quality customer service to our participants and charity partners
  • Prepping equipment, materials and literature ready for event delivery
  • Coordinating the staff teams that work on the events
  • Research, design and innovation
  • Assisting on weekend events throughout the summer events season
  • Other Related administration

THE CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be enthusiastic, resourceful and pro active with a genuine interest in an event management career
  • Be a graduate with with a keen interest in outdoor sports events
  • Be a highly organised multi-tasker
  • Have proven experience in an organisational  role, able to follow process and manage own workload
  • Be confident with good interpersonal skills and good telephone manner
  • Have excellent, demonstrable Excel, Word, and PowerPoint expertise
  • Be a fluent speaker of English and eligible to live and work in the United Kingdom
  • Be excited about working on multiple weekend events (in exchange for lieu/overtime) throughout the event season May – September.

 

RENUMERATION

In exchange for your hard work and enthusiasm Action Challenge will provide opportunity to rapidly gain hands on experience in a range of event related disciplines including operations, marketing, production and delivery.

Additionally we will pay you £200.00 per week plus overtime for weekend event roles.

Volunteer Trek Masters

As a Trek Master you will be the main support on the route of the challenge, you will be largely situated in between our site rest-stops walking through stages of the route where your care counts the most to our participants. Your role will be varied and can entail everything from interaction with the participants and helping those who need it most, checking routes and signage, static marshalling potential hazards along the route and reporting anything to control. Fundamentally we are looking for experienced walkers to represent Action Challenge on the front-line of the event…. The route!

Action Challenge's volunteers are highly valued, bringing positive energy and fun to our events - and most crucially supporting our challengers when they need it most. For many who volunteer with us it is a highly rewarding experience - some have friends and family on the challenge and want to be part of the event, others are perhaps looking for experience within the challenge and events world before taking on more responsibility themselves; others do it because they just love it!

Expedition Leaders

We are always on the look out for Mountain Leaders with experience trekking and leading groups at altitude with a passion for delivery outstanding experiences. Across the year we have over 30 Kilimanjaro departures, as well as many other trekking challenges and expeditions across the globe. UK & Expedition Doctors

Every event we organise is accompanied by an event Doctor. Along with the expedition leaders or site managers, it’s your responsibility to oversee the health and physical well-being of our participants. From running day to day clinics for the challengers and offering words of encouragement where required, to facilitating evacuations in medical emergencies, life is certainly never dull for our event Medics.

In order to qualify successfully as an International medic for Action Challenge, you must be a qualified Doctor with fantastic people skills, a love for the great outdoors, a real desire to help others to achieve their goals and also have personal or professional high altitude experience (3500m+ above sea level). Completion of an Expedition Medical course or similar and previous experience on high altitude treks are also highly desirable as is experience as a medic on an Action Challenge UK event.
