Climbing Kilimanjaro is a tough challenge, but one that is very achievable with the correct training. We have Training Guides for you to follow plus Action Challenge Training Days and Weekends for you to join!
Whether you're a first-time trekker or experienced mountain go-er, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro requires dedication to training, to prepare yourself as much as you can for the trek ahead. Your training should incorporate aerobic (endurance building), anerobic (strength building) exercises and some good long walks! We have put together a Training Guide with further information on the types of training we recommend - please refer to the downloads below.
When heading out on long walks, it's vital to train in the walking boots you'll be wearing on the mountain. You need to make sure your boots are fully broken in before you head out for your challenge so there's no nasty surprises on the mountain! By the time of your departure, you want to make sure you're able to trek on consecutive days, and have a good level of fitness. If you're a member of the gym, or have a particular sport you love, definitely increase your fitness as much as you can, but ultimately, get your walking boots on and head for the hills!
