Pembrokeshire Coast Ultra Adventure

07 - 11 Jul

ITINERARY

DAY 1

The Action Challenge Base Camp

The Ultra Adventure basecamp is at Pencarnan Farm, on the coast just outside St Davids. The camp will be equipped with tents, dining area and private toilets - and is ready to welcome you! After taking in the stunning coastal scenery, we'll have a dinner and briefing on the Adventure to come!

DAY 2

Goodwick to Abercastle - 25km

Today is a tough walk, but also a beautiful one that follows the costal path south, with climbs and descents. We pass Careg Wastad, the spot where the French tried to invade Wales, then carry on to the magnificent Strumble head. In the afternoon we walk to Aber Mawr along the breathtaking cliff tops, and stop off at the beach for our afternoon break. The last stretch this afternoon is to Abercastle where our coach will be waiting to take the group back to our basecamp - and a well-earned dinner!

DAY 3

Abercastle to AC Camp St Davids - 25km

Today's windswept section has a great feeling of isolation to it, and after 3.5km we come across the deserted Melin Trefin Mill. Our morning rest-stop is the tiny working fishing harbour at Porthgain. Afterwards, it's a trek to the beautiful sandy beach at Traeth Llyfn and continue on to the rocky island of Ynys Gwair with its bird colonies, where we can have lunch whilst admiring the view.  At 20km we reach St Davids Head before we descend to the stunning whitesands beach where temptation may get the better of you and you might just have a swim in the chilly waters. If you do, a warm welcome awaits at camp, only a short walk away!

DAY 4

Action Challenge Camp to Newgale Beach - 28km

We trek from camp past the St Davids RNLI station at St Justinians. Our mid morning break comes as we arrive at the Bay and Beach at Porthlyski and then onto the 13th Century ruins of St Nons Chapel, named after st David's Mother. This spot is built on 7th century ruins and surrounded by Pagan standing stones that are much older! We soon pass through Solva and then come to our final straight as we descend onto the Newgale Beach and our finish.

We transfer back to our camp for our last night and mark the end of our Ultra Adventure with a good meal, drinks and great friends.

DAY 5

Return Home

After a final breakfast together its time to depart with a transfer back to St Davids / Haverfordwest.
