Hadrian's Wall Ultra Adventure

Ultra Adventures 939x197

What kit will I need?

A full equipment list will be provided to you when you sign up.

Good walking shoes or boots should be worn for the event.

You should definitely come to the event with good waterproof gear. It is likely that we will get some rain during our trek unless we are very lucky.

A good small daysack will be needed where you can fit any of your essentials. Rain jacket, packed lunch, snacks, water etc. make sure it has a rain-cover or your contents may get wet.

How fit do I need to be for this adventure?

Trekking 30km daily along Hadrians Wall is a good challenge, but it’s difficulty is heightened by any rain or strong sun that you experience. Nevertheless, it is very achievable with the correct training, and the pace set along the trail. The terrain is relatively flat on two days with rolling hills. It requires a reasonable level of strength, stamina and determination. Your training should incorporate aerobic (endurance building), anaerobic (strength building) exercises and some good long walks!

What if there is a lockdown or local restrictions?

We guarantee every booking. If there are any lockdowns or restrictions that mean your chosen date cannot go ahead, you can:

  • Choose a new date at no extra cost

  • Get a credit note

  • Get a no-questions-asked refund

What will the camping be like?

When you get to the camp your tent will be set up for you and will be allocated to you throughout your stay. There will be a camping mat for you but you may want to supplement this with you own.

Can I share a tent?

Our tents are single-occupancy by default, however you can request to share with someone when you register!

What services are available at the camp?

There will be wash blocks with warm water, toilet and general washblocks.

We will have a centralised covered area where we eat and you can enjoy to spend time with other participants in the evening.

We will provide you with Breakfasts and Dinners while you are at camp, plus a apcked lunch while on the trail.

Can I bring my own tent?

Yes! You can bring your own tent, and get a £40 discount on your booking. Just let us know when you register.

Can I bring a camper van?

Unfortunately not. We can't guarantee access to our camp site for vehicles, so you may end up with a long walk back to your van after dinner each night - plus you will miss out on the camp atmosphere.

How will we get to the Action Challenge camp?

You can make your own way to the camp. Details of the camp address will be on the Challenge app.

A limited number of transfers are available for each Ultra Adventure date, and can be booked when you register. These cost between £5 and £15.

Can I park at the camp?

There will be parking at the campsite at no extra charge. Please pre-book your car at the time of registration.

How do I pay for the Ultra Adventure?

When you register, you can pay a small deposit to secure your place.

You then have three options to pay the final balance:

  1. Self-funded: You pay the remaining balance 8 weeks before your Adventure

  2. Charity sponsorship: You fundraise double the remaining balance for your chosen charity

  3. Mixed funding: You pay half the cost, and fundraise double the other half for your chosen charity.

Which charities can I fundraise for?

We work with hundreds of UK charities. A full list is available on the registration form. If you don't see your chosen charity, then you can let us know, and we will contact them on your behalf.
