Stok Kangri stands magnificently at 6,153 m towering over the Stok range of the Himalayas. It is a popular peak to take on as an initial non-technical foray into high altitude mountaineering.
Your challenge starts in the Tibetan influenced, enchanting town of Leh, in the Ladakh region of Northern India. Already 3,500 m above sea level, over the first few days we take time acclimatising to the altitude visiting the historic and religious sites of the region as well as exploring the local bazaars and streets of this bustling gateway to the Himalayas. We trek steadily on our way to the summit of Stok Kangri as we reach higher altitude, passing through gorges, criss-crossing the Markha River before the path steepens. On our tough summit night, our trek takes us across the glacier to a steep ridge and we make a scramble to the top. After all the effort, we are rewarded with breathtaking views as the sun rises, and we are surrounded by the Himalayan peaks all the way to the horizon. After taking it all in, we descend down to celebrate our achievement together.
This fully-inclusive adventure to the summit of Stok Kangri begins as soon you register; you will receive access to your trip App, which includes all of the challenge documentation you'll need to prepare. If you are fundraising, we will sort out all charity formalities for you, but we also offer pre-challenge briefings where you can meet our guides and leaders. As a team we will fly to Leh, ready to trek along this spectacular itinerary!
