3 Peaks Challenge

pre-trip preparation

how tough is the challenge?

Climbing the 3 peaks is a tough endurance event - one which requires a vast amount of training. You will have to combat fatigue and tiring limbs as you battle through the challenge!

 

The more comfortable you are with walking long distances for sustained periods the more comfortable you will be on the challenge. You should also practice walking at night at similar times to those projected on the schedule - to get your body accustomed and used to the sensation of working when it's normally sleeping and recovering!

what's included?

  • Briefing: Weekday pre-event briefing in London.
  • Luxury Minibus support and experienced drivers
  • Friday pick up from Glasgow airport
  • Final event briefing in Fort William the night before you embark on the challenge
  • 1 x group meal (pre-event evening)
  • 1 x night bed and breakfast (pre-event) – this will be basic but comfortable
  • 1 x packed lunch
  • 1 x group meal (post-event brunch)
  • 5 litres of water per person
  • 2 x first aid trained mountain leaders for each mountain
  • Return transport to Chester on the Sunday

on the challenge

how big is the group?

All of our challenges are group adventures and the average size is approximately 20 participants. We welcome individuals, couples and groups of friends on to our challenges, and many who join us literally have a mountain to climb in terms of the scale of the challenge they are taking on. We advocate camaraderie and team bonding, and really believe that this enhances your experience.

what will the support be like?

We will have 2 mountain leaders per mountain to support group dynamics and increase safety and success on each mountain. 

 

We have a full support team in country with two way radio contact between the Action Challenge Head Quarters in London and local staff and satellite phone for emergencies. If for any reason you need to leave the group early local staff will assist you and will arrange transfers, accommodation and medical care if necessary.

what will the food / accommodation be like?

You will be staying in a comfortable 3* hotel on the Friday night, where we will also enjoy a dinner together after the briefing. We have an early breakfast on Saturday morning before leaving the hotel to start our challenge. We will provide a packed lunch for Saturday, however you will need to purchase your own dinner whilst on the event at a service station en route. Once the challenge is completed, we have a hearty brunch together to celebrate our achievements!

funding and fundraising

how can I fund this challenge?

You can choose to fully fund the challenge yourself or fundraise for a charity of your choice (from which approximately 50% of the sponsorship will cover your trip cost). For both funding options, an online registration deposit is required to secure your place.

 

We have worked with over 200 UK charities and welcome partnerships with new ones all the time! As long as they are a registered UK or Irish charity and agree to you doing so, we are more than happy for you to fundraise for any charity close to your heart.
